Patriot Men look to “Build” on solid start

FLORENCE, SC – The Francis Marion University men’s basketball team will play its final game of the calendar year on Saturday when the 7-1 Patriots host The Apprentice School at 7 p.m. in the Smith University Center.

General admission is $5 for adults and $2 for students (FMU students are admitted free with ID).

The game will be streamed on the internet at http://www.pennatlantic.com/main.php?module=event-results&searchIt=yes .

On Saturday, Francis Marion will look to avenge its lone loss of the year, a 72-67 overtime defeat at the hands of the Builders on Nov. 24 in Newport News, Va.

Since that game, the Apprentice School (4-2) has lost its last two contests to UNC Pembroke and NCAA Division III power Virginia Wesleyan College – also the alma mater of FMU head coach Gary Edwards.

Francis Marion leads the all-time series with the Builders 4-1. The Apprentice School competes under the affiliation of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).

Following the Christmas break, the Patriots will return to Peach Belt Conference action when they host UNCP on Jan 2 at 3:30 p.m.
