FLORENCE, S.C. – After playing three consecutive Peach Belt Conference games on the road, the Francis Marion University men's and women's basketball teams return home to host a rare double doubleheader this weekend.
Francis Marion will host Georgia Southwestern State University on Saturday (Jan. 16) with the women's game tipping off at 1:30 p.m. and the men's contest at 3:30 p.m. FMU will then entertain Columbus State University on Sunday (Jan. 17), also at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.
General admission is $5 for adults and $2 for students. FMU students are admitted free with ID.
All four games will be broadcast on WWFN The Fan, 100.1 FM and televised live on Channel 11 of Florence's Time Warner Cable system as well as streamed on the internet at http://www.pennatlantic.com/main.php?module=event-results&searchIt=yes .
Entering Saturday's game, the 18th-ranked FMU women are 12-2 overall and in second place in the Peach Belt's East Division with a 4-1 mark, while Georgia Southwestern is 7-6 and 2-1 (tied for second place in the West Division). Francis Marion leads the all-time series 7-0.
The Francis Marion men have identical marks of 12-2 overall and 4-1 in the PBC, and are also in second place in the East Division standings. Georgia Southwestern is 4-9 overall and 0-3 in the PBC. FMU trails in the all-time series 4-2.
