FMU announces new faculty members

FLORENCE – Officials at Francis Marion University have announced the addition of new faculty members for the 2010-2011 school year. 

Nwamaka (Amaka) Anaza of West Lafayette, Ind. has joined the faculty as an assistant professor of marketing. She earned the B.S. degree in paralegal studies and the M.B.A. degree from Southern Illinois University. She earned the Ph.D. degree in consumer behavior from Purdue University. 

Kirk Boyle of Cincinnati, Ohio has joined the faculty as an assistant professor of English. He earned the B.A. degree in English from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in English and Comparative Literature from the University of Cincinnati.            

Julian M. Buck of Eugene, Ore. has joined the faculty as an assistant professor of mathematics. He earned the B.S. degree in mathematics from the University of Northern British Columbia, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in mathematics from University of Oregon.

Amy L. Clemons of Lafayette, Ind. has joined the faculty as an assistant professor of English. She earned the B.A. degree in English from Bluffton College in Bluffton, Ohio, the M.A. degree in English from Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. and the Ph.D. degree in English from Purdue University. 

Gregg W. Gelb of Sanford, N.C. has joined the faculty as an assistant professor of music-instrumental. He earned the B.M. degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mass., the M.M. degree in saxophone performance from the North Carolina School of the Arts, and the D.M.A. degree in saxophone performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. 

Katie E. Horney of Greensboro, N.C. has joined the faculty as an assistant professor of costume design. She earned the B.A. degree in theatre arts from High Point University, and the M.F.A. degree in costume and scenic design from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. 

Margaret A. McGill of Kingstree has joined the faculty as an instructor of English. She earned the B.A. and M.A. degrees in English Literature from Clemson University.                                      

Natalie Smith Mahaffey of Central has joined the faculty as an instructor of English. She earned the B.A. degree in English from Francis Marion University and the M.A. degree in English from Clemson University. 

M. Annie Muller of Florence has joined the faculty as an assistant professor of nursing. She earned the B.S. and M.S. degrees in nursing from California State University. She earned the Ph.D. degree in clinical nursing from Rush University in Chicago, Ill. 

Jan M. Serrano of Garrison, Texas has joined the faculty as an assistant professor of finance. She earned the B.B.A. and the M.B.A. degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University. She earned the Ph.D. degrees from Virginia Tech. 

Jeffrey A. Steinmetz of Florence has joined the faculty as an assistant professor of biology. He earned the B.S. in biology and English from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa. and the Ph. D. in biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  

June S. Strickland of Latta has joined the faculty as an instructor of education. She earned the B.A. degree in English from Pembroke State University, and the M.Ed. degree from the University of South Carolina. 

Pamela P. Turner of Florence has joined the faculty as an instructor of accounting. She earned the B.B.A. degree from the University of South Carolina – Coastal Carolina College and the M.B.A. degree from Francis Marion University. 

Ruth A. Wittmann-Price of Florence has joined the faculty as the chair of the Department of Nursing and professor of nursing. She earned the A.A.S. and the B.S.N. degrees from Felician College in Lodi, N.J. She earned the M.S. degree from Columbia University in NYC and the Ph.D. degree from Widener University in Chester, Pa.
