FMU’s Eggert earns PBC pre-season volleyball honors

FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University’s senior middle blocker Mallory Eggert has been named to the Peach Belt Conference 2010 Pre-season All-Conference Volleyball Team.

The league’s head coaches selected the eight-member team.

The 6-1 native of Lake Elmo, Minn., was second in the PBC last season with 119 blocks for a 1.03 per game average. She also ranked 11th in the conference with a .224 hitting percentage, while averaging 1.70 kills per game.

Francis Marion opens its 2010 campaign on Sept. 3-4 when the Patriots host the FMU Invitational Tournament. On the opening day, Francis Marion will face Barton College at 1 p.m. and Erskine College at 5 p.m.

Eggert is one of six FMU returnees from last season’s 11-20 squad.
