FLORENCE – Perry Wilson of Darlington has been named director of admissions at Francis Marion University
Wilson will be responsible for providing leadership in recruiting and admitting new undergraduate students to the university. Her areas of responsibility will include oversight of admissions counselors, support staff operations and recruitment publications efforts.
“We are pleased to have someone with Mrs. Wilson’s background and experiences undertake the responsibility of managing our admissions process. She has a record of progressive knowledge and demonstrated success in higher education recruitment,” said FMU Associate Provost Ken Kitts. “Her creativity, professional experience, grasp of the admission and recruitment landscape, and appreciation of the university’s distinctive mission made her the ideal choice.”
Wilson will assume her position as director of admissions on Oct. 8.
“I am excited about the opportunity to work with the talented staff of admission professionals at Francis Marion and look forward to spreading the good news about the university to prospective students,” said Wilson.
A native of Hartsville, Wilson earned a bachelor’s degree in 1978 and a master’s in 1981, both from Converse College in Spartanburg.
Wilson is leaving her post as director of admissions at Coker College to come to FMU. She worked there for nearly eight years. Prior to that, she served as director of enrollment services at Florence-Darlington Technical College for eight years and director of admissions there for 10 years.
