FLORENCE, SC – The Francis Marion University men’s golf team will participate in the Wolfpack Intercollegiate Tournament, hosted by North Carolina State University, Monday and Tuesday.
The 54-hole event will be played at the par 71, 7,358-yard Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh. The LPGC was recently ranked No. 22 in Golfweek's top on-campus collegiate courses.
Thirty-six holes will be contested on Monday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start and the final round will be played on Tuesday.
In addition to the fourth-ranked Wolfpack and FMU, the field includes the University of Arkansas-Little Rock, Campbell University, East Carolina University, Duke University, George Mason University, Georgia State University, Lynn University, University of Maryland, University of Memphis, Navy, University of Rhode Island, UNC Wilmington, Virginia Commonwealth University, Wake Forest University, and Western Carolina University.
The young Patriot squad for this event will consist of sophomores Travis Gantt (78.7 stroke average), Sebastian Backlund (77.0), and Kenneth Svanum (74.7), along with juniors Kurt Slattery (75.7) and junior Andy Weir (78.7).
Earlier this season, Francis Marion placed 14th at its own season-opening Springhill Suites Intercollegiate Tournament and 15th at the Maryland Intercollegiate Tournament.
