FMU Library staff members receive honors at S.C. Library Association’s annual conference

FLORENCE – Francis Marion University Library Acquisitions Coordinator Yvonne Davis and Circulation Manager Steven C. Sims received honors at the South Carolina Library Association’s Annual Conference held in Myrtle Beach recently. 

Davis was elected first vice-president of the South Carolina Library Association. She will plan the 2011 conference which will be held in Columbia. Sims was awarded the Outstanding Paraprofessional of the Year Award for his service to the profession and to FMU.   

This year’s theme was, “Advocacy from the Ground Up.” The annual conference was the premiere continuing library education event offering dozens of workshops and networking opportunities.  

FMU Reference Librarian Nathan Flowers continues to serve as the chairman of SCLA’s Constitution and Bylaws Committee.  

The South Carolina State Library is a national model for innovation, collaboration, leadership and effectiveness. It is the keystone in South Carolina’s intellectual landscape.
