FMU Volleyball to honor pair on Senior Night, Nov. 5

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Francis Marion University volleyball team will conclude its regular season schedule with a pair of Peach Belt Conference home matches this weekend, starting with a Senior Night contest against Armstrong Atlantic State University on Friday (Nov. 5).

The match will start at 7 p.m. in the Smith University Center, and admission is free.

On Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., FMU will entertain conference leader Flagler College (22-7).

Francis Marion owns a 15-13 overall record and is 4-8 in PBC play. AASU is 17-12 and 6-6, including a victory over the Patriots earlier this season in Savannah.

Prior to the first serve, Francis Marion will honor the two seniors on this year’s squad: libero Kelsie Deaton and middle blocker Mallory Eggert.

Earlier this season, Deaton earned PBC Specialist of the Week honors. She currently ranks second in the Peach Belt with 5.12 digs per match, and for her career ranks fourth all-time in the PBC and second at FMU with 1,808 digs. She has 11 matches this season of 20+ digs and 28 for her career – having played in 120 career matches.

Eggert ranks fifth in the conference in blocks per set (0.85) and sixth in attack percentage (.280). She has 705 career kills and 400 total blocks in 121 matches. The blocks total ranks 12th on the all-time conference list.

The 2010 PBC Tournament will begin on Nov. 12 in Savannah.

Deaton is a product of Martinsville (Ind.) High School, while Eggert hails from Lake Elmo, Minn., and attended Mahtomedi and Woodbury high schools.
