FLORENCE, SC – The Francis Marion University men’s soccer team will conclude its 2010 regular-season schedule with a Senior Day match-up with 16th-ranked Flagler College on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. and admission is free.
The Patriots own a 7-8-1 overall mark and currently stand fifth in the Peach Belt Conference standings with a 3-4-0 mark. Francis Marion opened its season 0-5-1, but is 7-3 over its last 10 contests while allowing only nine goals in that span.
Prior to kickoff, Francis Marion will honor the five seniors on this year’s roster: goalkeeper Clark Richeson, forward Chris Foltanski, and defenders Ivan Juric, Justin Kibler, and Julian Ramjohn. Four of the five are four-year lettermen, while Ramjohn transferred to FMU prior to his sophomore season. FMU is 37-30-8 over the past four seasons, including the 2008 PBC championship.
Foltanski leads the Patriots in scoring with 12 points (3 goals and 6 assists), while freshman forward Alex Blandin paces FMU with five goals scored. Richeson, who recently set the Patriot career record for shutouts (17), owns a 1.33 goals against average with a conference-leading 77 saves in 16 matches.
Flagler has won its last four matches and is 11-3-1 overall and fourth in the PBC with a 5-2-0 mark. The Saints lead the series 1-0-0 having won the first-ever meeting 3-1 last year in St. Augustine, Fla.
Francis Marion will take to the road on Tuesday for a first-round match in the PBC Tournament. The opponent will be determined after Saturday’s final conference matches.
