Cari Ellen Hicks crowned Ms. FMU

FLORENCE – Cari Ellen Hicks of New Zion was crowned Ms. FMU during the annual pageant at Francis Marion University, Feb. 21.     

Hicks is a senior and is majoring in marketing. After graduation, she plans to pursue a master’s degree in business administration at FMU. Hicks is a member of The Riot club Young Professionals at FMU and serves as an FMU Orientation Leader. She has participated in the Relay for Life and volunteered with the March of Dimes, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and McLeod Health. She has interned for the Florence Red Wolves and is the cheerleading coach at Briggs Elementary School. 

As Ms. FMU, Hicks will represent the university at a variety of events, including Open House, Freshman Orientation and outreach events in local high schools.  

Abby Lee, a junior from Sardis, was named first runner up. Lee is majoring in early childhood education. She is an FMU Diplomat and a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. 

Second runner up was Delia Davis of Camden. She is a sophomore and is majoring in biology/pre-nursing. Davis is the social events chair of the University Programming Board, a member of Young, Gifted and Blessed and a volunteer at McLeod Health. 

Miss Congeniality was awarded to Jourdan Winans of Manning. The senior is majoring in biology. She is involved in summer mission work at Pinewood Baptist Church and participates in Relay for Life.

The Ms. FMU Pageant began in 1971 and is held each year. To be involved in next year’s pageant, pick up an application next spring in the Office of Student Affairs located in the Smith University Center, suite 205.
