FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University senior defender Rebecca Nelson has been named to the Jewish Sports Review’s 2010 Women’s Soccer All-America Team.
A native of New Hyde Park, N.Y., Nelson was named to the 11-member Division I first-team.
Nelson started all 18 matches this past season and registered 13 shots, two goals, and two assists. She had the match-winning score in a 3-2 overtime win against Wofford College.
She ended her four-year career having played in 68 matches (45 starts) with four goals and four assists.
Francis Marion, which competes as an NCAA Division I Independent, finished the 2010 campaign with a 3-13-2 record, with five of the losses coming by one goal.
The remainder of the first team includes forwards Whitney Weinraub (UNC Charlotte), Camille Levin (Stanford University), and Laura Weinberg (Duke University); midfielders Melanie Baskind (Harvard University), Sarah Friedman (University of Pennsylvania), Melanie Adelman (University of Houston), and Alex Raich (Eastern Kentucky University); defenders Molly Bruh (George Washington University) and Lindsay Jaffe (Appalachian State University); and goalkeeper Lily Meisner (Morehead State University).
Nelson is a product of Herricks High School.
