AIKEN, SC – Francis Marion University junior forward Liki Turner has been named to the Peach Belt Conference 2011 All-Conference men’s basketball team. Turner was named to the five-member second team and was recognized at the PBC’s awards banquet held in Aiken prior to the conference’s championship weekend.
Turner, a 6-5 native of Richmond, Va., led the FMU men in scoring (16.3 ppg), while ranking second in rebounding (7.5 rpg), field goal percentage (50.5%), free throw percentage (81.4%), and minutes played (31.2 mpg). He also recorded 20 steals and six blocked shots. He scored in double figures 24 times, including eleven 20-point games, and recorded six double-doubles.
Among his conference brethren, he ranked sixth in scoring, eighth in rebounding, ninth in free throw percentage, and 13th in field goal percentage.
Turner helped lead Francis Marion to a 16-11 record, the team’s third consecutive winning season – something that has not happened since the early 1990’s. FMU tied for third in the PBC’s East Division standings.
A transfer from Division II Shepherd College, Turner surpassed 1,000 points for his career during this past season.
The 2010-11 All-Conference team was selected by the league’s head coaches, and coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players.
