FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University junior center fielder Destinea Schneider has been named to the second-team Louisville Slugger/NFCA Southeast All-Region Team.
Schneider, a product of Jacksonville, Fla., led FMU with a .352 batting average, a figure that ranks 13th in the Peach Belt Conference. She also registered team-high totals for runs scored (28), hits (56), and stolen bases (22). The latter figure ranks sixth in the Peach Belt. She also posted a .411 on-base percentage with seven runs batted in and registered four outfield assists along with a .953 fielding percentage.
A slap hitter from the left side, Schneider recorded 22 multi-hit games and reached base safely in 36 of the team’s 46 contests. She hit .378 with runners in scoring position and reached base at a .468 clip when leading off an inning.
She is a two-time All-PBC performer and helped lead Francis Marion to a 24-21-1 record this past season.
Schneider attended Tallahassee Community College in 2009 before transferring to FMU. She is a former All-Star Game selection at Jacksonville’s Edward White High School, and before that was a three-time All-Region honoree at Greenway (Ariz.) High School.
