FLORENCE – Brian Denny, director of Programs for Exceptional Children in Florence School District One, has been honored by the Francis Marion University Department of Psychology with an outstanding alumni award.
Denny received the Professional Psychology Award for 2011-12 at a reception held Oct. 5 on the FMU campus.
The Lake City native graduated from Lake City High School in 1994 before making his way to FMU. He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from FMU in 1998 and was inducted into the psychology honor society, Psi Chi. He received a master’s in school psychology from FMU in 2001 and was the school psychologist in Florence School District One from 2000-06.
In his current position as director of Programs for Exceptional Children, Denny is responsible for more than 2,500 students enrolled in various special education programs throughout the district with approximately 170 special education employees including special education teachers and speech, occupational, and physical therapists.
Denny has served on the FMU Alumni Association Board of Directors since 2008.
