FLORENCE – The North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble – Good Vibrations, will appear Saturday, Oct. 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Francis Marion University Performing Arts Center
This non-stop percussive dance review is a trip through time and into the future of this unique American art form. The music ranges from Blind Boy Fuller to Brubeck to Mozart. But it is much more than a youth dance ensemble. The company presents an incredibly unique performance, featuring cutting edge contemporary choreography and traditional rhythm tap as it was danced in its prime. Imagine Stomp, Riverdance, Vaudeville, Fred Astaire and Bring in Da Noice all on the same bill.
This show is the first of four in the “Dance Series” that also features Paul Taylor 2; Ailey II; and the Moscow Festival Ballet.
In addition to the “Dance Series” there are four others during the PAC’s season that runs until May of 2012. Those series include Broadway shows, concerts, family oriented shows and a variety series as well as a wide range of acts in the smaller, more intimate Black Box Theatre. Information on the complete season is available at www.fmupac.org.
Tickets for Saturday’s show are $25, $20 and $10 and may be purchased at www.fmupac.org, via telephone at (843) 661-4444, and at the FMU Performing Arts Center Box Office. Telephone and personal ticket sales are available Monday through Friday between 12-5 p.m. Subject to availability, tickets may be available for purchase at the door. The PAC is located in downtown Florence at the intersection of Dargan and Evans Streets.
