FLORENCE, SC – Francis Marion University senior forward Liki Turner has been selected to the Peach Belt Conference pre-season 2011-12 All-Conference men’s basketball team.
Turner, a 6-5 native of Richmond, Va., was named to the All-Conference squad following his junior season that saw him lead FMU in scoring (16.3 ppg), while ranking second in rebounding (7.5 rpg), field goal percentage (50.5%), free throw percentage (81.4%), and minutes played (31.2 mpg). He also recorded 20 steals and six blocked shots. He scored in double figures 24 times, including eleven 20-point games, and recorded six double-doubles.
In the Peach Belt listings, he ranked sixth in scoring, eighth in rebounding, ninth in free throw percentage, and 13th in field goal percentage.
Turner is one of three starters returning from Francis Marion’s 16-11 team last season. It was the team’s third consecutive winning season – something that had not happened since the early 1990’s. FMU tied for third in the PBC’s East Division standings.
The Patriots open their 2011-12 campaign on Nov. 11 against local-rival Coker College in the UNC Pembroke Classic.
A transfer from Division II Shepherd College, Turner owns career totals of 1,263 points and 689 rebounds.
The preseason All-Conference team is chosen by the league’s head coaches.
