FLORENCE, SC – The Francis Marion University men’s basketball team will host its annual Zaxby’s Tip-Off Clazzic on Friday and Saturday (Nov. 18-19) in the Smith University Center.
Francis Marion (1-1) will meet Morris College (0-4) at 8 p.m. on Friday in the second game of the doubleheader. Coker College will face Chowan University (0-3) in the opener at 6 p.m.
FMU and Coker will swap opponents on Saturday with the Cobras playing Morris at 6 p.m. and the Patriots battling Chowan at 8 p.m.
Admission for each night is $8 for adults and $5 for students.
Both night’s games will be televised live on Channel 11 of Florence’s Time Warner Cable system as well as streamed on the internet at http://www.ustream.tv/fmupatriots
Francis Marion leads the all-time series against Morris 19-10, including 14 straight wins dating back to 1978. FMU and Chowan have split their two previous meetings.
The Patriots are 25-16 all-time in home openers, including 5-0 under the direction of head coach Gary Edwards.
Sophomore guard Evrik Gary leads Francis Marion in scoring with a 22 points per game average. He scored a career-high 27 points in a 93-81 victory over St. Andrews University last Saturday. Junior 6-6 forward Zamarius McLendon is averaging 15.5 points and 12 rebounds per game.
Zaxby’s, which is celebrating its 21st anniversary, has four Florence locations.
