FLORENCE, SC – Francis Marion University senior forward Liki Turner has been named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 12-18.
Turner, a 6-5 native of Richmond, Va., averaged 20.5 points and 10 rebounds in two games last week. He tallied 11 points and seven rebounds in a road loss to Elizabeth City State University and then registered a career-high 30 points with 13 rebounds in a conference road win at Armstrong Atlantic State University.
He currently ranks fifth in the Peach Belt in rebounding at 8.8 rpg, 10th in free throw percentage at 81.2 percent, and 12th in scoring at 16.3 ppg. He has recorded three double-doubles.
Turner was an All-PBC selection following the 2010-11 season and prior to this year was named to the pre-season All-Conference team and was an honorable mention pick to the Sporting News Preseason NCAA Division II All-America squad.
The Patriots are 6-4 overall and 2-1 in the PBC and will return to action following the New Year with three consecutive Peach Belt home games, beginning with USC Aiken on Jan. 4.
Turner played his first two seasons at Division II Shepherd College, before transferring to Francis Marion. He owns career totals of 1,410 points and 768 rebounds.
He is a product of Benedictine High School.
