FMU Women’s Soccer Team earns national academic award

FLORENCE, S.C. – For the seventh time in the past eight years, the Francis Marion University women’s soccer team has earned a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Team Academic Award. These most recent awards are for the 2010-11 school year.

The Francis Marion squad, coached by Joel Person, compiled a cumulative 3.21 team grade point average for that academic year. 

The Patriots were one of 13 Palmetto State teams (all divisions) named to the list.

In previous years, FMU ranked 17th among all Division I women’s programs in 2007-08, while the Patriots ranked third in Division I in 2006-07, 30th among all schools (tied for ninth in Division I) in 2005-06, 81st among all schools in 2004-05, and 58th among all schools in 2003-04.
