FLORENCE, SC – The Francis Marion University men’s and women’s basketball teams will play host to Augusta State University for a Peach Belt Conference twinbill on Saturday (Dec. 3) afternoon.
The women’s game will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Smith University Center, followed by the men’s contest at 3:30 p.m.
General admission to the game is $8 for adults and $5 for students (FMU students are admitted free with ID).
The men’s game will be broadcast on WWRK 105.9 FM, WWRK 1400 AM, and WDSC 800 AM and both games will be televised live on Channel 11 of Florence’s Time Warner Cable system as well as streamed on the internet at http://www.ustream.tv/fmupatriots
The Francis Marion women (2-3, 0-1) are led by sophomore guards Emilee Dunton (12.4 ppg) and Brittany Christian (10.3 ppg), while junior point guard Carmella Thompson leads the team in rebounding (9.2 rpg) and assists (4.0 apg).
The Patriot men (4-3, 0-1) are paced by senior 6-5 forward Liki Turner (16.3 ppg, 8.7 rpg), sophomore 6-3 guard Evrik Gary (16.1 ppg), and junior 6-6 forward Zamarius McLendon (13.9 ppg, 9.3 rpg). Three Patriots scored at least 20 points in the Wednesday loss to Lander University.
Both ASU squads will be playing their first conference games of the season. The Jaguar men are 2-2 and the women are 2-3.
Francis Marion leads the women’s all-time series 25-16, including eight straight Patriot victories. FMU trails in the men’s series 34-9.
