FMU to hold book signing of local author, Blue

FLORENCE – Francis Marion University’s James A. Rogers Library will host a book signing for local author Michael A. Blue on Wednesday, Feb. 29, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the library.

Blue is a member of the S.C. Board of Education for the 12th Judicial District and retired educator of 25 years. He will be on hand to speak about his new book, “Building Credibility in Leadership: Principles for Secondary Leaders.”

Blue states in his book, “The senior leader articulates the central principle to those around him or her, training and empowering them to believe in the vision and implement it. Ultimately, they are to become leaders as he or she is: passionate, disciplined, and progressively effective. These secondary leaders reciprocally touch the masses, who are their target audience, replicating their own development’s process in many others...”

Many have attempted to explain the importance of senior leadership but few tell you how to go about building credibility in leaders and establishing a "culture of leadership" from the ground up. In his groundbreaking, Blue provides viable examples of how to unleash true potential by training staff members and laypeople to lead in truth.

The signing is open to the public. Books will be available for purchase at the signing. Copies may also be purchased from Amazon at

In 1992, Bishop Michael A. Blue and his wife Malinda became the founding pastors of The Door of Hope Christian Church with only 34 members consisting mostly of children. Today, the local Ministry and Worship Center, dedicated in 2001, has become a beacon of faith for nearly 1,000 members and countless others. He is also the founding prelate of the Christian Covenant Fellowship of Ministries consisting of 40 churches/ministries.

In 1985, Blue received a B.A. in English from Francis Marion University in Florence. He was awarded the Doctor of Divinity from Cathedral Bible College, Myrtle Beach and an honorary doctorate in humanities from his alma mater.

As he spreads the gospel throughout the world he also delivers leadership and training programs where he inspires, informs, motivates and equips leaders to creatively and effectively bring the hope of Jesus.
