Red Cross, FMU and the Konduros Fishermen Fund announce inaugural Rachel Hodges Leadership Institute
The 6-day institute will be held May 19 – May 24 at Francis Marion University
The American Red Cross is partnering with Francis Marion University and the Konduros Fishermen Fund and to present the first annual Rachel Hodges Leadership Institute. A news conference will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at Francis Marion University, located 4822 E. Palmetto St., Florence to announce this exciting initiative to the community.
The Rachel Hodges Leadership Institute will be held May 19 – May 24 at FMU. The Institute is designed to ensure that Red Cross staff and volunteers have the opportunity to develop and become more prepared to respond to small and large scale disasters down the street, across the country and around the world. In total, over 300 Red Cross volunteers and staff will be trained at the Institute.
This six-day Institute will be broken into three tracks, including, Executive Leadership, Development and Disaster Services. Attendees will receive advanced training in the following four core areas:
1. Disaster Readiness - planning and response to major disasters
2. Chief Executive Officer Training - responding to community needs during times of disaster
3. Disaster Fund Raising
4. Public Affairs
