FLORENCE, SC – For the second time in three weeks, Francis Marion University junior Alex Caspari has been selected as the Peach Belt Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, this time for the week of March 5-11.
Caspari won both his singles matches last week – in straight sets – and both victories were over nationally-ranked opponents. He is 4-0 against nationally ranked singles opponents this season and 7-0 overall in singles play without having lost a single set.
Caspari also teamed with Gavin Davison to win a pair of doubles matches, again both over nationally ranked opponents. His doubles mark is also a perfect 7-0, and he and Davison are currently ranked 19th nationally in Division II.
The native of Hurth, Germany, has helped the 13th-ranked Patriots to a 6-1 overall record, including a 3-1 mark in PBC play.
He improved his career singles record to 29-10.
Both the Francis Marion men’s and women’s squads will travel to Georgia this weekend to face Columbus State University on Saturday at 11 a.m. and Georgia Southwestern State University on Sunday at 11 a.m.
