FLORENCE, SC – The Francis Marion University softball team will hold its annual Senior Day on Thursday (April 5) when the Patriots entertain UNC Pembroke for a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader.
The opening game will begin at 2 p.m. on the FMU Softball Field and admission is free. Please note that some earlier schedules had the first game starting at 4 p.m., but that has been changed
Francis Marion is 26-12 overall and 4-6 in the PBC, while UNCP is 14-23 and 3-9.
Francis Marion will honor its four seniors: second baseman Ashley Jaramillo, center fielder Destinea Schneider, right-handed pitcher Kayla Ellingsen, and first baseman Megann Sallinger.
Jaramillo, a two-time All-PBC pick, has appeared in 185 career games and totaled 19 home runs, 136 runs batted in, and a .317 career average. With 43 doubles, she is within four of the school record, while standing second on the career list for being hit-by-pitches (17).
Schneider, a two-time All-Conference selection and an All-Region performer in 2011, has played in 132 career contests, scored 79 runs, driven in 26 runs, and stolen 48 bases in 56 attempts.
Ellingsen owns a 20-13 pitching mark in two seasons with the Patriots. She has recorded four saves and a 2.08 earned run average, while striking out 208 batters in 255.1 innings.
Sallinger, who battled injuries at the start of the 2012 campaign, has played in 62 career games with a.232 average, four home runs, and 12 RBIs.
FMU leads the all-time series with the Lady Braves 35-15.
