Former FMU cager to play with Grizzlies summer league squad

Former Francis Marion University men’s basketball player Kevin Clark will play with the Memphis Grizzlies summer league team in Las Vegas beginning on Friday (July 13).
The Memphis roster will be headlined by 2012 first-round draft pick Tony Wroten and second-year guards Jeremy Pargo and Josh Selby. Grizzlies player development coach Lloyd Pierce will serve as head coach.
All five Grizzlies summer league games will air on NBA-TV, including four live broadcasts.
Clark, a 6-7 218-pound native of Charlotte, played two seasons at Francis Marion.
He was a third-team All-Peach Belt Conference selection in 2009 after averaging 10.4 points and a team-leading 7.3 rebounds per game. He connected on 43.3 percent of his field goal attempts, including 30.9 percent from three-point range, and 68.3 percent of his free throws, while leading the team with 38 blocked shots. He also compiled 52 assists and 22 steals, and recorded nine double-doubles (points/rebounds).
Clark helped the Patriots to a 16-12 record during the 2008-09 campaign.
As a junior, he averaged 8.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game.
After his playing career concluded at FMU, Clark joined the U.S. Army. In 2011, he played for the All-Army Team and was named to the All-Armed Forces Team that competed in the Military World Games in Brazil. He helped lead the USA squad to a 7-1 mark and the bronze medal. He was deployed to Afghanistan from September 2011 to May of this year.
Clark played two seasons at Hampton University before transferring to FMU. He is a former All-Conference performer at Olympic High School.
