John C. McKee, D.D.S. (’77), was honored by the Francis Marion University’s Department of Biology with an outstanding alumni award during a reception Oct. 9 on the FMU campus.
McKee received the John S. Boyce Award, named after one of the Biology Department’s first chairpersons. This is the seventh year the Biology Department has held this recognition of outstanding graduates of the biology program.
McKee graduated from Southside High School in 1973, from FMU in 1977, and from the Medical University of South Carolina School of dentistry in 1981. He established his private practice in Florence in 1982 and has practiced for thirty years.
He married the former Beverly Lee of Florence. They have two sons: John-David and Christopher and a new daughter-in-law, Heather. McKee was diagnosed with Parkinson’s thirteen years ago and is now practicing part-time. He enjoys duck hunting, fishing and golf.
