Owens and Taylor named FMU's 2013 Outstanding Employees
Beverly Owens of Marion and Ray Taylor of Florence have been named outstanding staff employees of the year at Francis Marion University.
The awards were presented July 17 during the staff awards luncheon, which also honored FMU employees for length of state service. Owens is the administrative assistant in the Department of Mass Communication, Modern Language and the Honors Program and Taylor is a custodian.
Owens has been employed at FMU for 14 years and Taylor for nearly 10 years.  They both were cited for their dedication to their jobs and for service above and beyond the call of duty. President Luther F. Carter presented Owens and Taylor with plaques and $1,000 checks in recognition of winning this annual award for employees.
It is Owens’ experience, efficiency and dedication to the students of FMU that garnered her the recognition. Her colleagues wrote, “She has fulfilled her daily responsibilities with an eye to the faculty, administration, staff and particularly the students.”
