FMU's Department of Physics and Astronomy to host S.C. Engineering and Physics Scholars Institute
Francis Marion’s Department of Physics and Astronomy will host the South Carolina Engineering and Physics Scholars Institute (SCEPSI) on campus in an effort to get high school students more acquainted with the disciplines.
The event is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 14 to Saturday, Nov. 16.
SCEPSI is geared towards introducing high school students to engineering and physics in general and Francis Marion’s programs in particular.
Chair of the Department of Physics and Astronomy and Professor of Physics Dr. David Peterson is coordinator of the institute aimed at “sharing the excitement of engineering physics.” The institute gives high school students a chance to become familiar with more advanced ideas and equipment than they would normally be exposed to in a high school setting.
