The 37th Pee Dee Regional High School Mathematics Tournament will be held at Francis Marion University Tuesday, Dec. 3. Registered to participate are 311 students from 21 area high schools. The event is co-sponsored by the FMU Department of Mathematics and the Pee Dee Education Center.
Scheduled in Chapman Auditorium of the McNair Science Building, the tournament consists of all students taking a written mathematics exam in the morning and a team competition in the afternoon. Dr. Lorna Cintron-Gonzalez, FMU assistant professor of industrial engineering, will speak on “The Importance of an Industrial Engineer in the Workplace.”
Cintron-Gonzales earned the Ph.D. in industrial engineering from Pennsylvania State University, the M.S. in health systems from Georgia Institute of Technology and the B.S. in industrial engineering from the University of Puerto Rico.
