The winners of Francis Marion University’s Office of Public Affairs 2013 Photo Contest “An Education to Enrich and Employ” have been chosen.
FMU visual arts/graphic design student Kathleen Kennebeck from Effingham won the grand prize of $250 as the contest’s overall winner for her photo titled, “Painting Brilliant Skies.”
Category winners were as follows: FMU biology student William Myers of St. Stephen (Academics); FMU visual arts/photography student Chelsea Avant of Johnsonville (Campus Life); and FMU visual arts/graphic design student Rebeccah Hoekstra of Ontario, Canada (People). Each category winner receives $100.
Those receiving honorable mentions were: FMU biology student William Myers of St. Stephen (Academics); FMU business student Joseph Reid of Cheraw (Campus Life); and FMU visual arts/photography student Caress Cauthen of Timmonsville (People).
Participants were asked to illustrate the various aspects of student life at FMU, including but not limited to campus activities, buildings and people. Winners were selected based on photo quality, creativity and originality.
Submitted entries, whether selected for honors or not, may be used in the University's printed and online publications as part of the University's public relations and marketing efforts. In addition, a display of the winning photographs will be housed at Hyman Fine Arts Center on campus.
