FMU Offers Economics Course to Teachers

FLORENCE -- Through the years Dr. James Rinehart, director of the Center for Economic Education at Francis Marion University has coordinated workshops for local economics teachers.

From "the Collapse of the Russian and Eastern European Economies" in 1991, to "Environmental Issues for Educators" in 1995, on to "Software, Simulation, Internet and High School Economics," 1997, and "Teaching Economics in a Multimedia Environment"

On Wednesday, Nov. 17, beginning at 8 a.m., another workshop for area high school economics teachers is planned at the university.  Rinehart, an economics professor, teaches high school economics teachers how to get students enthused about economics.

Because everyone makes spending and saving decisions and choices, Rinehart says, everyone is involved in economics.  For more information about the program or to register, call Rinehart at 843-661-1426.
