Grande receives teaching scholarship

FLORENCE - Jennifer R. Grande of Florence, a student in the FMU M.A.T. program, has received a $1,000 scholarship at Francis Marion University.

Grande was awarded a South Carolina African American History Calendar Scholarship, established in 1997 by BellSouth, WIS-TV, and Take 10 Productions.  The scholarships are funded by the sale of the calendars and through donations.

The scholarships are provided to students who are working toward becoming teachers.  The South Carolina Center for Teacher Recruitment (SCCTR) administers the scholarship program for the sponsoring businesses.

For more information about the scholarship program, contact Janice H. Poda at the SCCTR, 803-323-4032.
