FLORENCE – The Francis Marion University Dining Services recently presented the University with $1,500 to be used in the school’s general scholarship fund.
The money was given to the University through Dining Services as part of an incentive provided in a purchasing agreement between Francis Marion University Dining Services and US Foodservice.
The agreement between US Foodservice and FMU stipulates that at least 85 percent of the goods and services purchased by the university dining services are purchased from the food service provider.
US Foodservice provides general grocery items, dining service needs, corporate and vendor support and accredited food service certification classes, among other items, said Robert Kurchin, director of FMU’s Dining Services.
“We are very grateful to Mr. Kurchin for this gift,” Elizabeth Cooper, senior vice president for advancement, said. The gift is part of the FMU Annual Fund campaign, which raises money to recruit FMU scholars.
“We have a great need in this area,” Cooper said.
