FLORENCE---Fred Carter will address the general faculty on Thursday, April 22, in his first official appearance as the newly appointed president of Francis Marion University.

 Carter, who is leaving his post as executive director of the State Budget and Control Board to become FMU’s fourth president, will speak to the faculty at 3:35 p.m. next Thursday in the Cauthen Media Center Auditorium.

 Other items on the agenda for the faculty’s spring meeting include approval of candidates for May commencement, election of officers for the 1999-2000 year, modifications in the faculty handbook and consideration of Faculty Senate recommendations on general education.
