FMU alum becomes partner in law firm

FLORENCE -- The law firm of Nexsen Pruet Jacobs & Pollard, LLP has announced that William G. “Billy” Newsome III has become a partner in the firm. 

Newsome, who practices in the areas of taxation, wealth transfer planning, probate administration, and exempt organizations, is a Hartsville native. Newsome received his B.S. degree in economics from Francis Marion College in 1988, attending as a Francis Marion Scholar. 

He received a J.D. degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he was a Roy Webster Scholar and a member of the Order of Wig and Robe.  He also received a Master of Laws in taxation from the University of Florida.  

Newsome frequently speaks at various professional groups on estate planning and tax topics, with special emphasis on estate and gift taxation and post mortem estate and trust administration.   Nexsen Pruet is a 100-lawyer firm founded in 1945, with offices in Columbia, Greenville, Charleston, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Charlotte, North Carolina.
