FLORENCE -- The fifth-annual Francis Marion University Annual Fund Golf Classic will be held Friday, May 12, at the Country Club of South Carolina. The 18-hole captain’s choice event raises funds to support the university’s scholarship campaign.
Last year’s golf classic raised $10,500, bringing the total generated for scholarships to more than $38,000 in the four-year history of the tournament. This year’s event is expected to push that mark over $50,000.
Golfers are paired in four-person teams, competing for cash and prizes. The field is limited to the first 120 golfers who register. The entry fee is $125 per player, and the registration deadline is Friday, April 28. To register, call the FMU Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs at 843-661-1228.
A hole-in-one on certain par-three holes, could win a 2000 GMC Sonoma pickup truck from King Cadillac-Oldsmobile-GMC Inc., or a Rolex watch from Floyd & Greene Jewelers in Aiken. Prizes or gift certificates will be awarded on every hole, and the winner of a putting contest, sponsored by Southeastern Pension Management, could receive $5,000.
All participants will be treated to a post-tournament cookout, sponsored by Santee Cooper. Other major sponsors of the tournament are CP&L, Roche Carolina and Pepsi.
