Patriots on Parade, Saturday in Florence

FLORENCE, S.C. – The annual Florence Jaycees Christmas Parade will have a Francis Marion University flavor to it, with FMU president Fred Carter serving as grand marshal and the Patriot men’s soccer team making an appearance as invited guests.

The parade will be held Saturday (Dec. 2) beginning at 11 a.m. on West Evans Street at the Edisto Drive intersection.  The parade will go east on Evans Street, take a left on Dargan Street in the downtown area, turn right on Baroody Street, and end in the parking lot of the Business and Technology Center.

The theme of this year’s event is “2000 Millennium Christmas – A New Beginning.”

The FMU soccer team recently concluded its most successful year ever with a 17-3-1 record and advanced to the national quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Tournament.  For two weeks during the regular season, the squad was ranked first in the nation.
