FMU fraternity to present political debate on Oct. 4

FLORENCE – The Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. chapter at Francis Marion University will present a political debate on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 6 p.m. in the McNair Science Building auditorium on campus.

 Debate participants will be Democratic state Sen. Maggie Glover, Republican state Rep. Jim McGee, and Sarah Steagull, a member of the Reform Party. Glover represents Senate District 30, which includes portions of Florence, Marion and Dillon counties. McGee represents House District 63, which includes portions of Florence County.

 The representatives will debate their political parties’ stances on a variety of issues including a proposed state lottery, the environment and gun control.

 The event is free and open to the public.
