Givens Little joins FMU staff as multicultural affairs coordinator

FLORENCE – Aurelio D. Givens Little has been named coordinator of multicultural affairs at Francis Marion University.

He replaces Yulaundra Heyward, who has taken a position with FMU’s Counseling and Testing Center.

Givens Little is a 1990 graduate of Francis Marion with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. The Charleston native went on to earn a master of divinity degree from Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta and is currently pursuing a doctor of ministry degree. He has been a pastor for seven years, serving the past two years as pastor and executive director of Abundant Life Prayer, Praise and Worship Center in Camden, where he resides.

The purpose of the Office of Multicultural Affairs is to amplify the academic, social and cultural development of students of color through counseling and programming. Givens Little will plan and implement programming that facilitates diverse student learning, including lectures, open forums, and cultural and social events.

Givens Little said he is excited to be back at FMU. “I love Francis Marion,” he said. “I want to provide leadership to help the university continue to support all minority students.”

Francis Marion is ranked by U.S. News and World Report as having one of the most diverse student bodies in the South with a minority enrollment of 33 percent.
