FLORENCE – The Pee Dee Regional Teacher Forum will sponsor an Instructional Fair at Francis Marion University on Monday, July 31, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Co-sponsoring the fair are the Francis Marion University School of Education and the Pee Dee Education Center, as well as a number of area businesses and corporate sponsors.
The Instructional Fair will offer teachers and school administrators in the Pee Dee area nearly 30 mini-sessions with information, teaching strategies, and lesson plans at all grade levels, presented by teachers for teachers. Several mini-sessions will focus on various aspects of technology and technology integration in the classroom, while other sessions will highlight hands-on activities in a variety of subjects. Special sessions on standards-based assessments for the classroom will be offered by Pat Mohr of the S.C. Department of Education. Teri Siskind and Valerie Harrison of the Education Oversight Committee will present a session on the School Report Cards, which will be soon be utilized as part of the Education Accountability Act. Of special interest to teachers are two sessions that will provide details and helpful tips on the National Board Certification process.
Various vendors and businesses will be showcasing education-related products and services for teachers as they begin to think about preparations for the coming school year.
There is a $10 non-refundable registration fee that includes registration materials, one-day parking on campus, a box lunch, and attendance at four mini-sessions. Registration has been extended through 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25.
