April Mills named Ms. FMU
FLORENCE, S.C. – April Mills of Aynor was crowned Ms. FMU during the annual pageant in the McNair Science Building auditorium, April 17.
Mills, a freshman biology major, is involved in the Francis Marion University Honors Program, the Student Alumni Association and Ars Medica.
Upon graduation, she plans to complete the nurse anesthetist program at the University of South Carolina and work in the Pee Dee.
Ms. FMU represents Francis Marion University at various functions throughout her reign. She also assists with high school recruitment and community service projects sponsored by the university.
Ms. FMU must be a full-time student, have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0, and choose a community service project.
Rachel Pack of Hinton, W.Va., was selected first runner-up in the pageant. A sophomore mass communication major, she is a member of the Patriot women’s basketball team and is involved in the Baptist Student Union.
Brandie Osborne of Salters was named second runner-up and Ms. Congeniality. A junior marketing major, she is involved in numerous campus organizations, including the Accounting Club, the Marketing Club, the Residential Student Association and Kappa Delta sorority. She is a member of several committees and is vice president of both the Student Alumni Association and the Honors Student Association.
Ms. FMU is selected based on an interview, pageant performance and overall bearing and ability to best represent Francis Marion University.
