FMU Phon-a-Thon to raise money for scholarships

FLORENCE – The Francis Marion University Student Alumni Association will sponsor the 8th annual Phon-a-Thon in support of the Annual Fund academic scholarship campaign Monday, April 10, through Wednesday, April 12, and again on Monday, April 17.

Student volunteers will call alumni and friends between 6:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. each of those evenings. FMU graduates and community supporters can expect a call from a FMU student, faculty or staff member during this time, asking for contributions to the university’s major scholarship fund, as well as answering questions and sharing the latest news about the university. The Phon-a-Thon is a follow-up to the annual direct mail campaign.

Last year, volunteers raised more than $20,000 in pledges to the Annual Fund. Total Annual Fund gifts from alumni and friends last year exceeded $68,000. About 40 FMU students currently benefit from scholarships (of varying amounts) made possible by donations to the Annual Fund. Contributions to the fund are 100 percent tax deductible.

For more information about the Phon-a-Thon or how you can donate to the FMU Annual Fund scholarship campaign, call the FMU Alumni Office at 661-1228.
