FMU Games To Be Played Saturday; Most Homecoming Activities Canceled

FLORENCE---Because of the forecast of inclement weather in South Carolina and the Florence area this weekend, most alumni and student homecoming activities scheduled for Saturday (Jan. 29) at Francis Marion University have been postponed.

The basketball games with Columbus State University will go on as scheduled Saturday with the women’s game at 2 p.m. and the men’s game at 4 p.m. in the Smith University Center.  The CSU teams were to leave Georgia Thursday to beat the storm heading toward the Carolinas from the southwest.

The crowning of the FMU homecoming king and queen will take place as scheduled at the basketball games, and Gary Bennett and Scotty Keefe will be inducted into the FMU Athletic Hall of Fame as scheduled.  The Friday night (Jan. 28) academic awards banquet honoring student athletes will be held.

All other homecoming activities will be rescheduled for the weekend of April 7-8 around a baseball series against Lander University.

For more information about homecoming activities, call the Alumni Office at 843-661-1228.
