FMU to host First Tuesday Arts Event on Nov. 14
FLORENCE – Salon music and art exhibits will be featured at the First Tuesday Arts Event at Francis Marion University on Nov. 14.
The program, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7:45 p.m. in the Hyman Fine Arts Center gallery with a viewing of “Native Art of the Americas Collection” from the Florence Museum and “Collages” by Marge Moody. The display is part of the FMU Art Gallery Series.
At 8 p.m. in the Adele Kassab Recital Hall, “An Evening of Salon Music” will be presented by The Florence Symphony Winds. The concert will include selections by Puccini, Mozart and Bach.
Performers are Peter Fichte, a clarinetist and a professor of chemistry at Coker College; Christine Sides Fisher, a clarinetist and the band director at Southside Middle School; Roy Skinner, a bassoonist and a physician with the Jeter-Skinner Family Practice; and Benjamin Woods, a pianist and a professor of music at FMU.
Following the program in the Hyman Fine Arts Center, everyone is invited to the Smith University Center art gallery to view an exhibit by FMU painting students. This exhibit is also part of the FMU Art Gallery Series.
