FMU Trustees To Meet Oct. 19-20
FLORENCE---The Francis Marion University Board of Trustees will hold its quarterly meeting Thursday and Friday, Oct. 19-20, on the university campus.
Committees will meet Thursday afternoon, and the full board meeting is scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday in the Stokes Building Board Room.
Major agenda items include revisions to the academic freedom and tenure policy and establishing procedures for faculty grievance cases not covered by that policy.
The trustees also will consider a resolution naming Innovation Place, a high tech computer lab that is part of the School of Education, in memory of the late J. R. Bryan Jackson, who was an executive of CP&L and a lifelong advocate for quality education. It was a gift from CP&L that helped establish Innovation Place, and the remainder of the gift will be used to endow its operation.
The trustees will also hear budgetary updates and reports on activities at the university.
The schedule for Oct. 19 committee meetings is as follows: Future Studies Committee, 10 a.m. in Stokes Board Room; Academic Affairs and Shared Governance Committee, 11:15 a.m. in Stokes Board Room; Financial Affairs and Responsibility Committee, 11:15 a.m. in Room 107 Stokes Building; Student Affairs and Advancement Committee, 11:15 a.m. in Room 218 Smith Center; Alumni Development Committee, 2:15 p.m. in Room 101 Stokes Building; University Development Committee, 2:15 p.m. in Stokes Board Room; and a roundtable discussion with President Fred Carter, 3:45 p.m. in Stokes Board Room. The Executive Affairs Committee will meet at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 20 in the Provost’s Conference Room in Stokes Administration Building.
