FMU student named to IMA committee

FLORENCE, S.C. – Daniel Larson, an accounting student at Francis Marion University, has been appointed to the Institute of Management Accountants Committee on Students for the 2001-02 academic year.

Larson, of Fairfax Station, Va., is president of the FMU Accounting Society. He is scheduled to graduate in May 2002 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting, and is currently working to start an IMA chapter at FMU.

He is one of only 10 college students nationwide selected to serve on the Committee on Students. Larson will travel to conferences in Toronto and Dallas, where he will meet with students and faculty from other U.S. colleges. He was nominated for the post by Carolyn Stokes, a professor of accounting at FMU.

Larson is in Washington, D.C., this summer participating in an internship with ULLICO (Union Labor Life Insurance Co.) Inc. He is also involved in a leadership program with PricewaterhouseCoopers this summer.

Larson was named to the Dean’s List at FMU in December 1999, and to the President’s List in May 2000. He is a member of the Patriot track and cross country teams and was named to the 2001 FMU Athletic-Academic Honor Roll.
