FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University’s 2000 orientation program, “First Class,” recently received the 2000-2001 Most Outstanding Program Award from the South Carolina College Personnel Association.
Each year, the association presents several awards that recognize the outstanding contributions to the field of student affairs and the state. The award was presented at the association’s recent spring conference in Folly Beach.
FMU’s orientation is a fun event that gives incoming students the chance to familiarize themselves with the university. At orientation, new FMU students have the opportunity to register for classes, work with an academic adviser, have an FMU ID card made, meet current and incoming students, receive information on a variety of student services, and tour the campus.
FMU will hold four orientation sessions this summer for new students who will begin classes at the university in fall 2001. Each new student is required to attend one of the sessions, scheduled for June 19-20, July 13-14, July 24-25, and Aug. 7.
For more information or to register for an orientation session, call FMU’s Office of Academic Advising and Retention at 843-661-1279.
