Wages re-elected to lead FMU faculty

FLORENCE, S.C. – Charlene Wages, professor of psychology, was re-elected as chairman of the general faculty at Francis Marion University on April 19. This will be her second one-year term as chairman.

“I am looking forward to another productive year of working with the faculty and the administration,” said Wages.

Elections for vice chairman and secretary of the Faculty Senate will be held in the fall. Due to a change in the faculty constitution and bylaws, those two persons will also serve as vice chairman and secretary of the general faculty.

Until then, Peter Whelan, associate professor of English, and Roger Hux, assistant reference librarian, will remain as vice chairman and secretary of the general faculty, respectively.

A native of Atlanta, Wages has been a member of the FMU faculty since 1986. She previously taught at Georgia State University, the Georgia Institute of Technology, Morris Brown College and Spelman College. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia, and master’s and doctoral degrees in psychology from Georgia State.
