FLORENCE, S.C. – The Francis Marion University Wind Symphony will perform on Thursday, April 19, at 8 p.m. in the McNair Science Building auditorium on the FMU campus. The concert is free and open to the public.
The 33-member group is under the direction of Craig Alberty, assistant professor of music and director of instrumental activities at FMU.
The program will include “Albion Jubilee” by Alberty and themes from the motion picture “The Patriot” by John Williams. The movie was filmed in South Carolina and the main character, played by Mel Gibson, is loosely based on Revolutionary War hero Gen. Francis Marion, whom the university is named after. Williams’ score for the movie earned an Academy Award nomination.
