FMU to host 24th annual Art's Alive festival, April 28

FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University will host the 24th-annual Art’s Alive festival on Saturday, April 28. The festival, a celebration of the arts for the whole family, will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., rain or shine, and is free and open to the public.

Musical groups representing a wide variety of styles – including classical, jazz, spiritual, Broadway, gospel, bluegrass, barbershop quartet, choral and instrumental – are scheduled to perform.

A number of area visual artists will have exhibits on display, and craft demonstrations including chair caning, sweetgrass baskets, stained glass and antique picture frame restoration will be offered.

There will be numerous hands-on activities for children, such as face painting, sidewalk chalk art and the Patriot Poet-Tree. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic lunch or purchase food to suit all tastes from a variety of vendors.

For more information, contact the FMU Office of Community Relations at 843-661-1225.
